Council backs major change for social care and health

PLANS to create a single, new organisation to deliver most adult health and social care services in Salford have been approved by Salford City Council.

It’s another step forward towards creating a new integrated care organisation to be led by Salford Royal NHS Foundation Trust (SRFT).

Details of the full business case and new governance arrangements for the Integrated Care Organisation have been approved by three of the four partner organisations: Salford City Council, Salford Royal and NHS Salford CCG. Greater Manchester West Mental Health NHS Foundation Trust will consider the proposals on 16 May.

City Mayor Ian Stewart, said:  “If the proposals are fully approved, more than 2,000 council and health staff working across adult community, mental and acute health and social care services will be brought together under a single leadership. It’s about creating more personalised services for residents in a streamlined system to keep patients out of hospital and receiving care closer to home.”
