After developing experience in publishing, health care, retail, commissioning and customer service, Steph moved into the NHS.
She was Project Assistant for some time for the-then Practice Based Commissioning Group (PBC), Mental Health and End of Life Collaboratives within Commissioning and Service Reform Departments.
She then moved into a National Improvement Programme, ‘Safety Express’ where she was afforded the opportunity to complete a Prince2 Project Management Qualification.
From this, she moved into successfully delivering a CQUIN for ‘Making Every Contact Count’. Using methodologies applied to behaviour change, this project aspired to be able to equip individuals with the skills and knowledge to be able to signpost people effectively towards help or support within the local council, primary care and other third sector organisations.
It had an ambition to change the behaviour of the way people think about self-care and support outside of hospital, and it is this, that brought her into the Integrated Care Programme for Older People.
Previously, in her spare time, Steph has organised two large scale charity events, firstly for Nordoff Robbins music therapy and, secondly, for Oxfam.
