Friday 24 November is Carers’ Rights Day.
If you look after someone because of their age, disability or illness, we know how tough it can be. Salford’s health and care organisations have joined forces with national charity Carers UK to support Salford’s 23,500 carers, with a range of free digital resources.
The Carers UK website helps carers understand their rights, the support available to them and how to look after themselves, while Jointly is an app that helps carers build a support network for themselves and the person they look after.
Jointly makes caring easier, less stressful and more organised by making communication and coordination between those who share the care as easy as a text message. It includes medication management, calendars and task lists.
The Digital Resource for Carers includes guides to caring, information on carers rights and where to go for financial or practical help, how to be an advocate on behalf of the person you’re caring for and information on both local and national technology, products and services to help with caring.
It also has e learning courses to help carers take care of themselves through healthy eating, and building support networks.
Salford carers can register for free at: https://carersdigital.org/login/signup.php?DGTL3329 or go to carersdigital.org and use Access Code DGTL3329 to join for free.
